Mutualmarkets

Founding Designer and Director of experience Design

As the founding designer at MutualMarkets, I built the company’s entire design ecosystem—from scalable design systems and AI-driven workflows to product experiences that connect brands with entertainment IP. My work defined the UX strategy, design systems, and interfaces that enabled our startup to operate like a full agency. I led design across digital, print, and video, helping drive innovation, attract top clients, and secure multi-million-dollar funding rounds.

Designing Intelligent Workflows: An AI-Powered Approach

In this video, I walk through an AI workflow I designed for MutualMarkets using Figma and Loom—two powerful tools for remote teams working across time zones.

Before diving in, here’s some context:

When a user joins MutualMarkets, our AI analyzes their brand positioning—gathering details like colors, logos, and messaging.

Once they identify a potential entertainment partner, we combine what we know about both the brand and the partner to generate creative briefs, campaign taglines, and ads tailored to that collaboration. This helps brands envision what’s possible before requesting a deal.

In the demo, I take on the role of a brand exploring a partnership with Longmire. After some initial research, I use the workflow to generate ads that help me visualize a potential co-marketing campaign.

Figma Prototypes

To make reviewing a large body of work easier, each prototype listed below includes a pointer guiding you through the primary flow—what we call the “happy path.” While the focus is on this main journey, the prototypes also include some interactive components. For developer handoff, I provide all static elements, interactive components with their various states, detailed notes, the prototype itself, and often a Loom video to clarify interactions.

ELM STREET TECHNOLOGY

ELevate Product design

Elm Street Technology was acquiring companies to create an a-z solution for realtors and building a new platform called Elevate. It offered telecom solutions, CRM, transaction management, customizable websites with multiple listing service data, and more. With each acquisition, new products are integrated into their existing platform. When IDX Broker was acquired, the product team was asked to build an MVP integrating the IDX Broker product into the Elevate platform as fast as possible. Collaborating with developers and engineers, the UX team quickly identified what we needed, what we needed to eliminate, and what could be simplified. After restructuring the architecture, we used the ant design system, followed by modifications to make it less generic and more brand-specific. To move fast, we used a limited number of components repeatedly across all screens. Using Figma, we created a flow for each specific interaction and documented our thinking.

Creating a User Research Community to Connect with Multiple Segments

While discussing product improvements with my UX team, I identified the need for deeper, ongoing engagement with our diverse user base. To address this, I recommended creating a UX Research Community—a structured network that would give us direct access to the people we design for.

Purpose

To build a successful end-to-end solution for agents and brokers, the UX team must stay closely aligned with users’ goals, needs, and frustrations. Establishing a research community enables continuous communication and targeted feedback, ensuring our products evolve with real-world use.

User Segments

The community is designed to capture perspectives across the ecosystem, including:

  • Agents

  • Brokers

  • Managing Brokers

  • Principle Brokers

  • Staff

  • First Time Buyer

  • Single Buyer/Seller

  • Family Buyer/Seller

  • Co-Buyer/Seller

  • Investment Buyer/Seller

  • Vacation Buyer/Seller

How It Works

Community members are invited to join their segment and participate in remote user testing, interviews, surveys, group discussions, and beta testing. This approach ensures feedback is relevant, actionable, and tied directly to the context of each user group.

IDX Product Design

Before its acquisition by Elm Street Technology, I led the re-architecture and redesign of the IDX platform. The project focused on simplifying processes, restructuring content, and eliminating unnecessary functionality—while also introducing a lead management system, a modern navigation framework, and hundreds of screens for managing realtor websites. (See examples below.)

Alongside this effort, I built a scalable design system enabling designers and developers to design and implement features more efficiently, ensuring consistency, speed, and long-term maintainability.

IDX Data-Driven Market Reports

Realtors often spend valuable time manually creating market reports to position themselves as local experts. To save time and drive lead generation, we developed automated, data-driven market reports that deliver real-time insights on local markets.

These reports encourage visitors to create an account on the realtor’s website to receive location-specific email updates. Once registered, users can also save favorite properties and receive tailored alerts.

The resulting analytics give realtors a clear view of buyer and seller interests—empowering them to demonstrate expertise, strengthen client relationships, and position themselves as the trusted choice for the next real estate transaction.

IDX Template Designs

IDX Broker provides realtor websites powered by MLS data, supported by a suite of customizable templates. I designed the following templates to leverage existing functionality while also introducing opportunities for improvement.

Key Recommendations

  • Expand search filters to include amenities and architectural styles

  • Simplify the existing search experience for clarity and ease of use

  • Integrate machine learning to automatically identify architectural styles

  • Add the ability for users to sign up for open house reminders

A key challenge of this project was creating an enhanced search experience that worked seamlessly with legacy templates relying on outdated search functionality. The prototype demonstrates both the improved experience and its compatibility with existing systems.

IDX System-Generated Emails

When I first arrived at IDX Broker, emails were text-based and in need of design and new copy. I managed this project with a copywriter, developer, illustrator, and QA. Below are a few examples of the new emails sent from the platform. We redesigned roughly 100 emails.

Odysys Product design

Drawn to the beauty of Bend, Oregon, I joined Odysys as its second employee, where I played a pivotal role in bringing the company’s SaaS platform to market in just six months. My work helped secure a win at Oregon’s largest angel investment conference, and over the next three years, I partnered closely with customers and our team to refine and expand the platform. After my departure, Odysys sold the booking engine I designed and was later acquired by CloudBeds.

At Odysys, I designed the entire platform experience—including the booking engine, website templates, digital marketing tools, and print materials ranging from brochures to large-scale conference signage.

Following this, I joined IDX Broker, an Odysys investor, as Director of User Experience Design, where I continued to shape innovative digital solutions.
